Public consultation has now commenced on the Local Heritage and Lakes Zone Development Plan Amendment, with written submissions due by 5.00p.m. on Friday 1st May, 2015.

The Development Plan Amendment (DPA) is proposing to update, rationalize and clarify heritage related policies within Council's Development Plan. The need for a DPA has come about following the findings of Council's Heritage Survey Review 2007, which identified a number of shortfalls within the current Development Plan relating to heritage protection. In addition to the updating of heritage related policies, the DPA is proposing to list additional heritage places and one Historic (Conservation) Policy Area. Given the nature of the proposed amendments, and in order to ensure continued protection of heritage places during the DPA public consultation period by preventing the demolition of these places, this DPA has also been released by the Minister for Planning on Interim Authorisation.
