The Mount Gambier and District Tertiary Health Education Donation Program was offered for the first time in 2007. This is a continuing pilot program and is aimed to encourage and foster those persons who normally reside within the City or District as their principal place of residence (or their immediate family normally resides) and who need to leave the region in order to undertake university studies in the identified skill areas required within our community.
A partnership has been developed with the two local Councils, the Mount Gambier Private Hospital Inc., Greater Green Triangle UDRH, businesses and the community to provide funding for this tertiary health education grant program. The current focus is on medicine and most forms of allied health.
The grants are designed to assist local people to undertake specific tertiary education studies where they are required to leave the Mount Gambier district in order to complete such studies.
It is the desire of the community partnership to support any initiative that strengthens and enhances our strategic objective for the Mount Gambier District to be a leading community in encouraging all forms of Lifelong Community Learning and assist in meeting local essential skills shortages.
