Mount Gambier’s goal for the future is to continue building a strong, vibrant community that is prosperous, balanced, sustainable and progressive.

Mount Gambier must develop and grow economically, culturally and socially to meet the evolving and changing needs of its population and it's many visitors. The City must invest in new opportunities to ensure its longevity and future success, to position itself as a centre of excellence, as a dynamic, pro-active community.

A three stage multi-million dollar project is underway to redevelop and revitalize three key sites within Mount Gambier, taking us through to 2015. These redevelopments will play a vital role in expanding Mount Gambier’s social, community, economic and cultural infrastructure.

The first stage of the redevelopment is a new library/ community centre, a place that’s not just for learning, but one that acts as a place for community activity.

The other stages of the redevelopment are the construction of a cultural and heritage precinct centred around the City’s main corner, incorporating the Riddoch Art Gallery and Cave Garden and the transformation of the vacant railway lands into a bustling community space, able to be used for a variety of purposes.

The benefits of these projects will be valued by the community for many generations to come – a lasting legacy of vital importance.
