City of Mount Gambier is disappointed by any acts of vandalism to the Cast in Blue sculpture. This is not just an attack on public property, it is an offence under the law and Council is taking the matter seriously.
An investigation is underway, and Council will restore the sculpture and pursue the appropriate avenues, including review of CCTV footage and a Police report. There is also a financial cost, that which is not known at this point in time.
Since it was unveiled two weeks ago, Cast in Blue has brought immense joy to residents and visitors, particularly children.
Council respects that there are a range of views about the sculpture but simply ask that people respect that this is a community asset.
