City of Mount Gambier are calling for entries for the 2022 NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade.

City of Mount Gambier are calling for entries for the 2022 NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade.

Entries are now open for the 2022 NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade. This year’s event will be held on Saturday 19 November 2022.

Community groups, sporting clubs, schools, businesses and individuals are encouraged to get behind the festive community event and submit an entry form. There is no cost to participate, and entries may vary from walking and marching performances to larger float displays.

It’s always incredible to see the effort put in by the community to bring the magic of the parade come to life.
City of Mount Gambier Community Events Team Leader Xarnia Keding

Community Events Team Leader Xarnia Keding said there are 10 prize categories with more than $3,500 in prize money to be won.

"We are grateful for the continuous support of NF McDonnell and Sons as a major sponsor," Ms Keding said.

Award categories include:

  • Most Outstanding Entry
  • Best Christmas Theme
  • Best School Entry
  • Best Club or Community Organisation Entry
  • Open Category
  • Best Themed Band
  • Encouragement Award
  • Best Non-City Entry
  • Best Utilising Recycled Resources Entry
  • Best Brass Band

Entrants are eligible for any award with only one prize per entry.

Entries will be judged individually on creativity, effort, visual appeal, energy, and engagement, and recycle focus.

Christmas Parade Guidelines and entry forms can be downloaded from Council’s website www.mountgambier.sa.gov.au/christmasparade or a printed copy can be collected from the Mount Gambier Visitor Centre, Mount Gambier Library, Civic Centre or The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre.

Entries close on Monday 31 October 2022 at 5:00pm.
