City of Mount Gambier continues to review its response to COVID-19 in an effort to protect the community and contain the spread of the virus.

Council understands that whilst people may be concerned the community is asked to not panic, stay informed and up-to-date with current health advice.

The health and wellbeing of the community remains Council’s highest priority. Having considered the most current health advice the City of Mount Gambier, in the interest of public and employee safety has implemented the changes to services and activities for the forseeable future. If you're concerned about COVID-19, call the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 for advice. The line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Border closures

To assist in reducing the spread of COVID-19 within South Australia, restrictions have been placed on the movement of travellers into the state. For all enquiries regarding border closures please call 1300 252 272. SAPOL have outlined further information here.

Self-isolation

For information on COVID symptoms and what is required for self-isolation call:

  • SA Health Hotline on 1800 253 787.

Anyone with concerns about people not self-isolating correctly can call:

  • SAPOL on 131 444, or
  • Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

DO NOT CALL 000 REGARDING COVID-19 UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY.

Social distancing

The community are asked to abide by the social distancing measures by keeping a minimum of 1.5 metres away from others, avoiding large social gatherings and physical contact with people and keeping movement around the city to only essential travel. The more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread. Watch the video below on how to practice social distancing.

Hygiene etiquette

Practice good hygiene to protect against infection and prevent the virus spreading.

Good hygiene includes:

  • covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue,
  • disposing of tissues properly,
  • washing your hands often with soap and water,
  • using alcohol-based hand sanitisers,
  • cleaning and disinfecting surfaces.
