Creative Arts Fund

The Creative Arts Fund aims to provide funding to artists, community groups and non-profit community based organisations for projects which respond to local needs and issues.

The Creative Arts Fund encourages projects and provides opportunities that make a positive contribution to the City and demonstrates consistency with outcomes from Council's Community Plan including the following key strategies:

• City streets and open spaces alive with arts and culture,
• A stimulating place that inspires artists,
• Greater appreciation of Boandik art, culture and heritage,
• Cultural events and festivals that make the City an attractive destination.

The City of Mount Gambier values the positive contribution arts and culture make to the social and economic wellbeing of regional communities and actively encourages the practice of cultural exchange.

Council also recognises that cultural sharing and artistic expression build resilient communities with a strong sense of place.

Projects may focus on, but are not limited to, performing and visual arts, literature, film, design, multimedia, history and heritage and their expression through public debate, festivals, exhibitions, performances and public celebrations.

Up to $25,000 is available for project funding in three key areas:

• A site specific project at Commerce Arcade, 26 Commercial Street West,
• An event or activity aligned with the Mount Gambier Fringe Festival,
• An activity or event within the City of Mount Gambier.
