Council is the local authority for public health to promote and provide for the protection of the health of the community and to reduce the incidence of preventable illness, injury and disability.
Council's Health Service team is responsible for areas which include food safety and public health regulation and the administration of the Supported Residential Facilities legislation.
Authorised Environmental Health Officers educate, regulate and monitor food safety, hair, beauty and skin penetration businesses, public swimming pools and public spas, interactive water play activities, public immunisation program, community sharps disposal program, high risk manufactured water systems and severe domestic squalor. Officers also may respond to notified communicable disease outbreaks and other public health risks.
