Haigh's chocolate products will soon no longer be available at the Main Corner Complex as the company discontinues sales outside of Haigh's owned stores. The decision comes as the Board of Haigh's aims to realign with their core values.
"Haigh’s Chocolates acknowledge and appreciate the relationship and the historic significance and success that aligning with The Main Corner has achieved and would like to thank the loyal customers in Mount Gambier and surrounding areas for the support of their business," - Haigh's Chocolates Retail Manager Peter Bradwell
“Haigh’s also thanks the City of Mount Gambier for their support, including the hosting of our Centenary Exhibition in 2016 that celebrated our 100 year business milestone,” Mr Bradwell said.
The Main Corner Complex will use this opportunity to refit the Riddoch Art Gallery gift shop which supports over 40 local artists.
“There have been instances where local artists have driven in excess of one hour to source quality art supplies such as brushes and papers from the Gallery shop so we see this as an opportunity to fulfil these artists needs within the City’s arts and cultural complex,” Main Corner Coordinator Talie Teakle said.
"In order to carry out the reorganisation the gift shop will be closed for one week from Monday 1 July 2019 but we are excited that upon re-opening we will stock a range of quality art supplies to meet the needs of our growing arts community."
The Main Corner will continue the sale of Haigh's products until all stock is depleted.
“Come down to the Main Corner during June to stock up on your Haigh’s Chocolates locally while you still can,” Ms Teakle said.
The sale of Haigh's Chocolates was reintroduced in Mount Gambier following the redevelopment of the Main Corner Complex in 2011. The Complex was authorised as a 'mini outlet' as a tribute to the location where Haigh's founder Alfred Haigh's opened his first store in 1905.
