Regulatory

All sections within the Regulatory Services division provide a diverse range of services which contribute significantly to the quality of life of the community. The core services of each section of the Division include:

Planning and Building

  • The assessment, processing and managing of a range of development applications under the Development Act 1993,
  • Ensuring that development within the City of Mount Gambier is carried out in accordance with the relevant Acts, Regulations and Standards/Codes,
  • Provide development advice and guidance to the public and development industry,
  • Contribute to policy development and strategic goals of Council, and
  • Contribute to Mount Gambier's environmental, economic and social sustainability.

Environmental Health

  • The assessment, processing and managing of all food businesses under the Food Act,
  • The assessment, processing and managing of all hairdressers, beauty, skin penetration facilities, cooling towers, warm water systems and public pools under the Public Health Act,
  • The assessment, processing and managing of the installation and maintenance of Waste Control Systems,
  • Ensuring that development within the City of Mount Gambier is carried out in accordance with the relevant Acts, Regulations and Standards/Codes, and
  • Auditing and licensing a supported residential facility in Mount Gambier (this facility provides accommodation and some personal care services for clients).

General Inspectorate

  • The administration of the Dog and Cat Management Act within its area and to promote responsible pet ownership,
  • Parking control,
  • The assessment, processing and managing of long grass or potential fire threats, and
  • Assessment and issuing of fire and outdoor dining permits.
