A delegation of 10 English teachers from Baotou, Inner Mongolia, China are in Mount Gambier this week on a cultural study tour.

University of South Australia Regional Manager Ian McKay said the teachers are here to learn more about the Australian education system and teaching methods.

"The group has participated in workshops at UniSA each morning, and are taking a look at child care centres and schools and then visiting various local tourist spots in the afternoon," Mr McKay said.

“I think they are gaining a far greater understanding of Australia and Australian people and the education system.”

The teachers attended a civic reception on Wednesday 24 January 2018 in the Civic Centre Chamber with City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee and Deputy Mayor Cr Hanna Persello.

The delegation will travel to Adelaide on Wednesday 31 January 2018 to spend time participating in workshops at the UniSA Magill campus.
