National Reconciliation Week 2022

A program of events will be held at the Mount Gambier Library and The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre from Friday 27 May to Friday 3 June 2022 to acknowledge National Reconciliation Week. The theme for 2022 is ‘Be Brave. Make Change’ and the City of Mount Gambier program will celebrate the recent dual naming of culturally significant local sites. Read full article

Grassroots Grant update - Revegetation works
17 May 2022

Following a $50,000 Limestone Coast Landscape Board Grassroots Grant provided to the City of Mount Gambier in September 2021, works are continuing in the Crater Lakes area focusing on the targeted removal of pest weeds and plants. Work has recently commenced on the Keegan Drive side of the crater rim in collaboration with Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation to plant seedlings as part of the revegetation of the area. ‘Take me with you’ opening at The Riddoch

The Riddoch Arts and Culture Centre will open Take me with you by Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine on Friday 20 May 2022 at 6:00pm. Postponed from 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the long-awaited exhibition will offer a rare insight into the artists’ practise across animation, installation, virtual reality and media art. Path to Centenary Tower from Elliott Drive reopened

Bestselling author to unveil war time stories

Section of Sugarloaf reopened following fire
13 April 2022

City of Mount Gambier has today reopened a section of the Sugarloaf, enabling users to access the area between Potters Point and the Punchbowl at the base of the Centenary Tower stairs. The latest phase of the staggered approach to reopening the Crater Lakes area follows ongoing risk assessments since fire took hold in late January burning 50 hectares of grass and scrub.
