Media statement: lamb welfare incident
13 June 2025
The welfare of animals is a priority for the City of Mount Gambier, and we remain committed to acting swiftly and responsibly when animals are in need. On Sunday evening 8 June 2025, Council was notified regarding three lambs wandering dangerously close to traffic along Jubilee Highway East. A Council officer responded promptly and, with the immediate safety of both motorists and the animals in mind, worked quickly to remove the lambs from harm. Given the busy traffic conditions, low visibility, and the high risk of a serious accident, the lambs were secured in the nearest safe and enclosed location - Dimjalla Skate Park.

Council to launch Community Renewables Program

City of Mount Gambier is taking a step toward a more sustainable future in partnership with solar technology provider ShineHub. The Community Renewables Program will launch in July to help residents cut energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.

Almost Here, Almost Now at The Riddoch

Opening on Friday 20 June at 6:00pm, Almost Here, Almost Now is a new exhibition that draws on the collections of both The Riddoch and the National Gallery of Australia. On view from Saturday 21 June to Sunday 24 August 2025, the exhibition brings together major works by Australian artists to explore questions of identity, belonging, and our evolving relationship with land and sky.
