Rotary provides assistance to disadvantaged juniors

The Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes has donated $2340 to the Junior Sports Assistance Fund to assist financially disadvantaged junior sports people with the costs associated with participating in their chosen sport.

The donation is part of the proceeds from the the club's annual OneFortyOne Blue Lake Fun Run.

"The Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes and Junior Sports Fund Committee have decided to confidentially identify worthy recipients from our member organisations who could receive financial assistance," Presiding Member of the City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund Cr Hanna Persello said.

Funding is available for:

  • South East Women's Football Association, 2 nominees, $600 (i.e. $300 each)
  • Limestone Coast Football Association - 1 nominee, $300
  • Discretionary donation - 12 nominees $1,440 (i.e. $120 each)

"The fund and its member organisations are very appreciative of the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes for its sponsorship of this special initiative," Cr Persello said.

An additional round of applications will open later in the year.
