Mount Gambier Cultural Fund open for applications
20 February 2018
The City of Mount Gambier Cultural Fund is open for applications. A total of $25,000 is available to local artists, community groups and not-for-profit organisations to support the delivery of inspiring, creative and contemporary projects that contribute to a connected, vibrant and culturally diverse community. Applications close on Wednesday 7 March 2018 at 5:00pm.

Taxi By-Law
19 February 2018
The legislation that permitted Council to make the current Taxi By-Law was repealed by State Parliament on 31 March 2016. Therefore, the Taxi Regulation By-Law will not be replaced and Council’s Taxi Licensing scheme will cease on 1 January 2019. This means that Council will no longer regulate taxi fees or operating hours, undertake annual taxi/meter inspections, or deal with service complaints associated with taxi operations.

Into Africa With A Smile - Author Visit

Author Linda Bootherstone has travelled the world, exploring many continents and countries by motorcycle for more than 50 years. She has documented her adventures in three travel journals and will be at the Mount Gambier Library to discuss her latest book ‘Into Africa with a Smile’ on Monday 26 February, 2018 at 6:30pm.

City of Mount Gambier By-Law Review
16 February 2018
Council is reviewing its By-Laws which will expire on 1 January 2019. A report will be considered by Council at its meeting this week that the proposed replacement By-Laws be endorsed before public consultation is sought. Council will also discuss the potential introduction of a Cats By-Law, particularly the enforcement and resource implications surrounding its implementation.

Imants Tillers 'Philosophy of Doubt'

Internationally successful Australian contemporary artist Imants Tillers’ latest exhibition Philosophy of Doubt is on show at the Riddoch Art Gallery. Imants Tillers is considered to be one of Australia’s most prominent and thought provoking contemporary artists, using appropriated imagery and text as part of his work. The public is invited to attend opening night on Friday 23 February at 6:00pm. Imants Tillers will be present at the gallery and will conduct a tour and artist talk.

Limestone Coast Sculptors present 'Carve, Cut, Polish'
14 February 2018
Limestone Coast Sculptors Kamunde Sadiki, Ivo Tadic, and Mark de Nys present limestone, metal and wood in abstract and figurative forms in the Carve, Cut, Polish exhibition on show at the Riddoch Art Gallery. The public is invited to attend opening night on Friday 23 February at 6:00pm. The exhibition is on show in the Cathleen Edkins Gallery, Riddoch Art Gallery Gallery until Sunday 11 March 2018.

10th Anniversary of the National Apology
12 February 2018
Tuesday 13 February 2018 marks 10 years since the National Apology to the Stolen Generations and Indigenous peoples of Australia. In recognition of the anniversary, the City of Mount Gambier encourages the community to visit the library to take a look at a display of materials that celebrate Indigenous culture and reflect on the struggles in closing the gap.

City of Mount Gambier Citizenship Ceremony
07 February 2018
The City of Mount Gambier officially welcomed eight new citizens as full members of the Australian community at a special Citizenship Ceremony held at the Civic Centre Council Chamber on Thursday 1 February 2018. The recipients, including three young children, originally came from the United Kingdom, India and Thailand and now call Mount Gambier home.

Autofest is back this weekend
01 February 2018
Up to 10,000 people are expected to converge on the Mount Gambier Showgrounds this weekend for the 10th annual Mount Gambier Autofest and 40th Show N Shine. Autofest is open to everything automotive, from cars, trucks, bikes and anything that has wheels. Operations Manager Les Adams said car lovers will get the opportunity to get up close and personal with vehicles of all makes and models.
