2019 Christmas Parade entries now open

​Entries are now open for the 2019 NF McDonnell and Sons Mount Gambier Christmas Parade. This year’s event will be held on Saturday 16 November and is celebrating 60 years since the first parade was held in the City in 1959. Read full article

New committee structure for Council

​At its meeting of 20 August 2019 Council endorsed a change in its current committee structure to align more effectively with strategic and community priorities and statutory duties. The changes involve the introduction of two new committees titled ‘People and Place’ and ‘Economic and Environment’. Read full article

‘Long Flight Home’ author to visit Library
26 August 2019

​Sunday Mail columnist Lainie Anderson will be at the Mount Gambier Library on Tuesday 3 September to launch her new novel Long Flight Home, a historical fiction celebrating one of Australia’s greatest aeronautic achievements of all time. The author event kicks off at 7:00pm and is free for the community to attend with copies of the book available for sale on the night. Read full article

City granted funds for Live Music Coordinator
12 August 2019

City of Mount Gambier will begin recruitment for a Regional Live Music Coordinator following a funding announcement of $25,000 from Minister for Innovation and Skills Hon David Pisoni MP. The State Government grant was awarded as part of the Regional Accelerator Music Program (RAMP) which encompasses a series of activities designed to support regional musicians and live music opportunities across South Australia. Rome comes to the Riddoch

​In a South Australian exclusive, the Riddoch Art Gallery will present the award-winning exhibition Ancient Rome: The Empire that Shaped the World. Created by renowned Italian artisans Niccolai – Teknoart Snc (Firenze) and Artisans of Florence, responsible for the remarkable Da Vinci exhibition, Ancient Rome will include more than 200 exhibits including artefacts, catapults, frescoes, armour, weapons and busts painstakingly reconstructed from ancient roman records. Library and NVI to host 2019 GovHack

Illuminart to light up the Railway Lands

Animated projections will light up the Mount Gambier Railway Lands on Friday 23 August 2019 as Illuminart’s Travelling Light show comes to Mount Gambier as part of a grand projection art tour to celebrate the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival. Read full article

Pump track project to attract international events
05 August 2019

​A ‘pump track’ will be constructed at Hastings Cunningham Reserve later this year. Swiss based company Velosolutions will work with the City of Mount Gambier to deliver the $150,000 project which includes the right to host at least two Red Bull Pump Track World Championship qualifying meetings locally. Time capsule found at former Target site

​The former Target building on Ferrers Street Mount Gambier was demolished in the past few weeks and is being cleared to make way for the new Coles supermarket development to begin. During the works a foundation stone was salvaged, underneath which a time capsule and an additional historical stone were uncovered. Read full article

Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes assists juniors
22 July 2019

​The Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes will donate $1,650 from the proceeds of the 2018 OneFortyOne Blue Lake Fun Run to financially disadvantaged junior sports people through the Junior Sports Assistance Fund. ​City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund Presiding Member Cr Christian Greco said the club wished to assist financially disadvantaged junior sports people with the costs of their participation in their chosen sport.
