Junior basketballers prepare to shine

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund congratulates Basketball Mount Gambier juniors Oliver Thomson, Emily Dawe and Sarah Nulty on their selection in the State Country U/16 Boys and Girls teams to attend the 2018 U/16 Australian National Basketball Championships to be held on the Sunshine Coast later this month.​ The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund made a donation of $1,050 ($350 each)​ to help Oliver, Emily and Sarah participate in these events. Annie's Story - A Children's Book

A children’s book rich in local indigenous culture will be officially launched as part of NAIDOC Week 2018 in conjunction with the Mount Gambier Library on Monday 9 July at 6:00pm at City Hall, Main Corner Complex. The book is written and produced by Aunty Michelle Jacquelin-Furr and is a tribute to her great grandmother, Annie Brice. Read full article

National Tour of the Refugee Welcome Scroll
26 June 2018

During Refugee Week 17 - 23 June 2018, City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee signed the Rural Australians for Refugees and Refugee Council of Australia Refugee Welcome Scroll. The six metre Welcome Scroll has toured Australia during the past 12 months and aims to confirm Local Government commitment to welcoming refugees into local communities. Read full article

Call for Community Reference Group Applications

​The City of Mount Gambier seeks applications from members of the Limestone Coast community interested in becoming a member of the Mount Gambier Regional Sport and Recreation Centre Community Reference Group. The Community Reference Group will play an important role in representing the community by providing input into the design, functionality and operations of the proposed $40million centre. Fund to support swimmer to attend championships

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund is pleased to support local swimmer Jordy Martin who has been selected in the School SA Swimming Team to compete in the School Sport Swimming Championships to be held in Hobart, Tasmania in July 2018.​ Read full article

Young baseballer supported by Junior Sports Fund

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund congratulates Brock Keding on his participation in two National Baseball tournaments in recent weeks. Last week Brock competed in the 2018 Senior League National Championship Under 17 Charter Team Adelaide Titans in Lismore, against New South Wales and won silver. Read full article

A history of Australian cooking

​“Tried, Tested and True” is a priceless collection of classic recipes as well as untold stories from Australian Community Cookbooks by bestselling author of “The Australian Blue Ribbon Cookbook”, Liz Harfull. Liz will launch her latest release at the Mount Gambier Library on Thursday 7 June 2018 at 7:00pm. Tried, Tested and True was inspired by such a Community Cookbook: the 1933 edition of the “Suttontown Recipe Cookbook”. Read full article

Microchip your pet by 30 June

​Following changes to the Dog and Cat Management Act, from 1 July 2018, all dogs and cats must be microchipped. All new generations of dogs and cats (born after 1 July 2018) must be desexed with exemptions to apply for working dogs and registered breeders. The Dogs and Cats Online system is a one-stop online service for all registration payments, microchipping and breeder information and is accessible 24/7, including on mobile devices. 'Hickory Dickory Dash' live at City Hall

​More than 240 local school children were entertained by the Mount Gambier Library’s theatrical performance of “Hickory Dickory Dash” at City Hall as part of National Simultaneous Storytime. Every year, a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian author is read simultaneously across the nation on the same day at the same time, in kindergartens, schools, bookshops and libraries.
