City CEO Mark McShane retires
13 February 2019
City of Mount Gambier CEO Mark McShane will officially retire on Friday 15 February 2019 after more than seven years in the top job at Council and an extensive career in local government, training, recruitment and human resources.

City welcomes new Australian citizens
13 February 2019
Five members of the Mount Gambier community were granted Australian citizenship following a citizenship ceremony officiated by the City of Mount Gambier on Thursday 7 February 2019 at the Council chambers. Mayor Lynette Martin OAM presided over the ceremony where the candidates, surrounded by family and friends, pledged their loyalty and commitment to Australia through the citizenship pledge.

Mayor's Christmas appeal donations skyrocket

The local community dug deep to support those in need in 2018, raising $29,732.10 for the Mount Gambier Community Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, the highest amount in several years. City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin is grateful for the support of generous donors who contributed to the appeal.

Not only does South Australia lead the nation with the first ‘One Card Network’ which connects library members with all public libraries across the state, we now have the Libraries SA application. The community is invited to attend the official launch of the app at the Mount Gambier Library on Thursday 14 February 2019 at 3:30pm.

Riddoch set to open first exhibitions for 2019

The Riddoch Art Gallery will launch the first exhibitions for 2019 on Friday 8 February at 6:00pm. Both exhibitions will be on display until Sunday 10 March 2019. The opening is free to attend as is the Gallery, open seven days.

Recreation Hub Business Case Endorsed
24 January 2019
The City of Mount Gambier endorsed the full business case submission to the Federal Government for the Regional Growth Fund application to secure $15 million earmarked for the Community and Recreation Hub at a Special Council meeting last night. The business case will be lodged with the Federal Government today Thursday 24 January 2019 to meet the Friday 25 January 2019 deadline.

Tertiary Health Education Grants Launched
23 January 2019
The Mount Gambier and District Tertiary Health Education Grant program will provide 12 financial grants to local health students in 2019 and is now open for applications. The program supports city or district residents who are required to leave the region to undertake university studies in identified health skill shortage areas within the community. The program provides local students with a $2000 grant to help complete their tertiary studies within the health field.

Public art adds life to CBD shopfronts
21 January 2019
Commercial Street West is home to a new trial public art initiative to create interest in vacant shopfronts and increase foot traffic in the CBD. City of Mount Gambier and Commercial Real Estate Agent Matt Kain identified a pilot site to feature a locally inspired design by artist/designer Kristyn Jones. Located at 3b Commercial Street West the locally inspired artistic design was installed today and aims to create conversation, an appreciation for our natural environment and to build civic pride in our city and region while highlighting the commercial opportunities available in the heart of Mount Gambier.
