Dig deep this festive season to support appeal

With Christmas less than one week away City of Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin OAM is calling on the community to donate to the Mount Gambier Community Mayor’s Christmas Appeal in support of those in our community doing it tough this festive season. The appeal aims to raise funds for distribution to local welfare agencies including the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul Society, Uniting Care, ac.care and Lifeline South East who are busy preparing for the distribution of food hampers and other assistance to the less fortunate in the Mount Gambier community this week. City takes out Sustainable Communities Award
12 December 2019

Mount Gambier has been crowned the 2019 KESAB Sustainable Communities (Tidy Towns) winner following on site judging last month. Mount Gambier was up against three other South Australian finalists including Whyalla, Streaky Bay and Kimba. Following the visits KESAB judge Alex Hammett recommended to the KESAB Board that Mount Gambier be crowned the overall South Australian winner. Read full article

Library to celebrate 10th birthday

Community 'pumped' for project completion

Construction of the Mount Gambier Pump Track is nearing completion at Hastings Cunningham Reserve following weeks of construction by local trades, City of Mount Gambier depot staff and contractors Velosolutions. The construction site fencing will be removed this week signaling the completion of the highly anticipated facility. Read full article

‘12 Nights of Christmas’ set to light up Cave Garden

City of Mount Gambier has collaborated with renowned projection art creators Illuminart to deliver ‘12 Nights of Christmas’ with projections set to light up the Cave Garden precinct. The festive sound and light show will feature on the rear wall of The Riddoch & Main Corner Complex from Saturday 7 December 2019, running each evening for 12 consecutive nights, until Wednesday 18 December. Community and Recreation Hub detailed design
03 December 2019

Following months of behind the scenes work the detailed design of the Mount Gambier Community and Recreation Hub is now complete. The completion of the plans now enables Council and project architects DesignInc to release tender documentation to shortlisted construction companies as part of the select tender process following the recent expression of interest advertised on the open market. 'Potholes and Paddocks to the Park' launch

Local historian and motorcycling enthusiast Colin Thompson will launch his latest book ‘Potholes and Paddocks to the Park – Volume 2: Jan 1950 - Jan 1963’ at City Hall on Wednesday 4 December 2019 at 7:00pm. Volume 2 continues the history of motorcycle racing in the South East from 1950 to 1963 including the establishment of the McNamara Park circuit near Mount Gambier and provides insight into social and commercial aspects of life in the 1950's and 60's. City confers 27 new Australian citizens
20 November 2019

27 Mount Gambier residents were recently conferred as Australian citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony hosted by City of Mount Gambier at City Hall. Originating from the United Kingdom, China, Ireland, Philippines, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico, Pakistan and Hong Kong candidates pledged their loyalty and commitment to Australia in the presence of family and friends.
