Council hosts investment delegation

​A small delegation of Adelaide based investors originally from China recently visited the South East for a two day tour to explore potential investment opportunities. CRG and architects revise rec centre plans

​The Mount Gambier Regional Sport and Recreation Centre Committee and the Community Reference Group (CRG) met with architects at the Civic Centre last night to discuss intermediate designs for the project funding proposal. DesignInc Adelaide and architectural partner CO-OP Studio Melbourne presented amended designs for the facility following CRG input and feedback from community engagement sessions in recent weeks. Mayor responds to survey comments

City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee has moved to respond to commentary about the cost of a survey for the proposed Mount Gambier Regional Sport and Recreation Centre and how it should be administered throughout the community. At a meeting this week, Council resolved the timing for an elector survey on the proposed facility after the Local Government Elections in November. Read full article

Trauma survivor now trauma cleaner

​The Mount Gambier Library will host an exclusive evening with Sandra Pankhurst, subject of the award winning book 'The Trauma Cleaner' on Thursday 30 August at 7:00pm at City Hall, the Main Corner. Before she was a trauma cleaner, Sandra Pankhurst was many things; husband and father, drag queen, prostitute, gender reassignment patient, trophy wife and successful business owner. But above all, Sandra is a survivor. Read full article

Sport and Rec survey to be held after elections

​At its August Council meeting, City of Mount Gambier resolved to conduct an elector survey on the proposed Mount Gambier Regional Sport and Recreation Centre after the Local Government Elections in November. During an election period, Council moves into a caretaker period to avoid actions and decisions which could, or could be perceived as intended to influence voters, or otherwise have a significant impact on the incoming Council. Fund assists junior Hockey stars
21 August 2018

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund has again provided support to a local athletes to compete at national level. Aiden Cameron and Jade, Liam and Shae Delaney all recently received donations through the Lower South East Hockey Association as an affiliated organisation of the Fund. Aiden competed in the Under 15 Boys National Hockey Championships held in Wollongong earlier this year and was awarded $300, while Jade, Liam and Shae received a collective donation of $1050. ReUse Market coming soon

Under the guidance of a new coordinator, the ReUse Market is taking shape at Eucalypt Drive as the City of Mount Gambier continues to work towards its opening later this year. Newly appointed ReUse Market Coordinator Rebecca Mobbs has experience in the waste management and recycling fields, in addition to extensive industrial, commercial and retail experience and a passion to reduce waste going to landfill. Limestone Coast Investment Showcase

​A delegation of 12 Asian investors are visiting the Limestone Coast for a two day showcase throughout the region to investigate ways to value-add to local primary produce. The Chinese and Malaysian investors will visit Mount Gambier, Coonawarra, Millicent, Blue Lake Dairy and Mayura Station in search of opportunities to invest in local tourism, horticulture, agriculture, seafood and wine industries.
